Sony Bravia KDL32EX301 32-inch HD Ready LCD TV
Sony released the Sony Bravia KDL32EX301 as part of it's new 2010 line-up of TVs. The KDL32EX301 seems to have been produced to compete with budget priced TVs, but still offers the technical capabilities expected from a Sony product. It has a screen size of 32 inches, which is capable of displaying a resolution of up to 1280x720 - which places the TV in the HD ready category, not quite as good as Full HD but still a vast improvement upon standard definition.
The picture processing unit of the KDL32EX301 is the Bravia Engine, Sony have used the second generation of this engine to help minimise cost whilst still providing excellent picture manipulation. Scene select and Live Colour both assist the user in modifying the picture settings to ensure the TV always displays the content in the best possible manor.
The KDL32EX301 provides good features in relation to the audio quality of the set, two 10W speakers combine to create a total output of 20W whilst the hardware is assisted by S-Front Surround software which mimics the effects of 5.1 surround sound through the two speakers.
A Freeview tuner has been built in to allow for all free-to-air channels to be successfully viewed without the need for any additional devices. A sensor is also present which detects the amount of ambient light within the room and adjusts the brightness of the backlight to make viewing more comfortable.
In terms of ports & connections, the KDL32EX301 has 4x HDMI, 1x USB, 2x scart, 1x Component inputs, 1x Composite video in, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, 1x PCMCIA Card Slot, 1x RCA AV Input, and a RF In slot.
Despite the fact that the TV is aimed at the budget market, it is still able to offer a wide variety of technical features, many of which other TVs in a similar price range cannot. It is a model worth considering if you are content to have an HD ready TV as opposed to one capable of displaying Full HD content.
The Sony KDL32EX301 costs around £330 which is a very competitive price for a Sony TV.
